We’ve chosen 3D animation as our week’s topic to give some variety. There are some exciting reads below, so let’s look.

The first is a video from a well-known YouTube artist, CG Geek.

NVIDIA Studio challenged CG Geek to create a wholly animated sci-fi world during the three days of #CES2023. Watch the video: How I Created a Realistic 3D Sci-Fi World in only 3 Days.

Another exciting read for animation and design is the behind-the-scenes artistic view of the new animated film – ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.’ A few interesting quotes from the article are below,

‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ Director Joel Crawford on Taking the Animated Cat Way Beyond the Original

“”We had the opportunity to go into new territory: this idea of being dropped into a fairy tale. You can see the brushstrokes and it looks as if you’re in a moving painting.”… “But the new art style of “The Last Wish” is about more than just intensifying the story of the infamous Antonio Banderas-voiced kitty. If anything, Puss is slowing down: In the film, the hero-slash-outlaw realizes he’s on the last of his nine lives and treks into the Dark Forest to locate a mystical wishing star to restore his lifespan. To complement those story beats, 2D inspirations were incorporated into the 3D animation, which Crawford says, “told the story even more specifically. Puss in Boots has this fairy tale point of view of, ‘I’m gonna live forever.'”

“You’re getting away from the literal and going toward the impressionistic,” Crawford continues. For example, early in the film, Puss fights a giant using a massive church bell as a weapon. The screen shifts into a flat yellow card when the giant gets hit in the face, with white circles emanating from the bell to represent a ringing sound, imitating something you might see in a comic book.”

Finally, we finish the top 3 with a hot topic this week, explaining how animation has helped change the casino industry.

Technologies That Have Changed The Online Casino Industry

“Slot machines are favored by many players worldwide above other types of gaming. Online slot machines have appeared to keep up with modern trends, bringing the straightforward idea and traditional style of our traditional slot machines to the virtual world.

However, it was vital to somehow distinguish the machines and give them a more dramatic and appealing design in order to draw customers’ attention away from their home environments and enhance the gaming experience. In this case, 3D animation played a significant part.

Modern online casinos for real money incorporate a lot of animation into their games, and frequently, there is a plot that players follow. The procedure becomes considerably more engaging as a result, encouraging gamers to keep playing. Slot machine 3D technology has altered how we view and understand online slots.”
